Applicants must: Be a resident of the New City Fire District for 1 year, or a property owner and resident for 3 months preceding the date of application. AND Be at least age 18.
Applicants between ages 16 and 18 can join as a junior member.
Winter Safety Tips: » Dispose of hot ashes in metal containers placed away from the house, NOT ON YOUR WOOD DECK.
» Do not burn wrapping papers in the fireplace. They can burn extremely fast; throwing off sparks and can ignite creosote that has previously accumulated in the chimney.
» Always stay in the kitchen while cooking.
» Keep grills at least ten feet away from other objects, including the house and any shrubs or bushes.
» Keep things that can burn, such as dishtowels, paper or plastic bags, and curtains at least three feet away from the range top.
