Glossary QSSP The Safety Equipment Distributors Association (SEDA) certifies qualified safety sales professional. QT See Quench Tempered. QUAD A combination fire apparatus; referred to as quadruple combination or quad because it combines water tank, pump, hose, and the ground ladder complement of truck company. QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL A person who through education, experience, or professional accreditation is competent to make judgments concerning a particular subject matter. QUARTERS A fire station. QUENCH To extinguish a fire by cooling. QUENCH TEMPERED (QT) A sudden forced temperature change from extreme hot to cold. QUENCHED STEEL (QS) Heated steel cooled suddenly by plunging into water or other cool solvent to induce hardening. QUINT Same as quad except an aerial ladder has been added. Fire apparatus equipped with a fire pump, water tank, ground ladders, and hose bed in addition to the aerial device. |
